Electron State Transitions with Coherent Wave Photons

Visualizing perfectly coherent, in-phase wave photon emission during stimulated emission

Coherent Wave Pattern: All waves have same phase and frequency

Metastable State
Excitation: Ground → Excited State

Coherent Waves (In Phase)

Animation Process:

  1. Seven electrons start grouped together on the ground state line
  2. Electrons are excited one by one to the excited state line
  3. Electrons transition to the metastable state line
  4. A stimulating coherent wave arrives from the left
  5. Stimulated emission occurs: All electrons return to ground state simultaneously, emitting perfectly coherent, in-phase wave photons!

Coherence Note: In stimulated emission, all emitted photons have exactly the same frequency, phase, and direction as the stimulating photon, creating perfect coherence.
